K.XIII.F is a visual artist from French Polynesia who was born in Tahiti and raised in Arutua (Tuamotu Archipelago) where her grandfather built a pearl farm.
K stands for Kokichi Mikimoto, the inventor of the cultured pearl and her former mentor, from whom she learned so much about pearl farming — a passion she has carried since childhood. XIII refers to her birthdate, and F to her family name.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in Physics from the University of French Polynesia and a Master of Science majoring in Aquaculture from James Cook University Townsville, in Australia.
Townsville is renowned for being the city of the Aboriginal people and puts a strong emphasis on their arts. There, she immersed herself in this environment and developed a passion for this very special technique.
Through her art, the artist highlights her passion for surfing, the sea, and nature at large. She develops her technique around symbolic pointillism, and presents an iconography in black and white, sometimes combined with a colourful world.
